We welcome you to visit our Early Learning Centre (ELC) Open House event. Join us to learn more about our Kindergarten programmes for students ages 3-6. You will be able to tour the campus, visit classrooms and meet teachers and students as you learn about our international programme.

What exactly does Early Learning Centre mean?
The Early Learning Centre is the foundation for our whole school programmes because it is the starting point for the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme. Our ELC supports students from ages 3-5 in a play-based learning environment. ELC 1 is for 3 and 4 year olds, and ELC 2 is for 4 and 5 year olds. The younger children are integrated within our school community and are able to share in the facilities including the Sportshall, Library, Music room, and the science labs on campus. Often the older students will connect with the younger children for projects including reading buddies, assemblies, and more!
What is special about the Early Learning Centre's kindergarten programme?
ISA is an international community, bringing together children from around the world. Students are able to share their own personal experiences and backgrounds with each other, learning about the world in the process. In the ELC classroom, students learn the basics of reading and writing in both English and German. Additionally, they practice new skills in music, art, and physical education each week. Students spend significant time outdoors each day playing, exploring, and working together. The student day runs from 9:00 - 15:15. Each class group has a teacher and additional assistants supporting the students’ learning and development within the classroom. Students transition smoothly from our ELC programme into Grade 1 able to read, write, and understand mathematical concepts.
Does my child need to be able to speak English?
Children are not required to speak English when they begin at ISA, but because the shared language is English, they will quickly learn to master the language. They will receive instruction that will help them learn to read and write in English as well as in German. Since ISA is an international community, there are often many languages represented in the classroom.
Can I bring my child to the Open House?
Yes, we welcome the children to visit during the Open House so that they can connect with the teachers, gain a sense of belonging, and know what to expect as an ELC student at ISA.
